One of my favorite quotes is this one that I found on my cousin's facebook page. I thought it sounded pretty cool, so here it is. :)
"God doesn't give you the people you want; He gives you the people you NEED...to help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be..."
"If thou desire the love of God and man, be humble; for the proud heart, as it loves none but itself, so it is beloved of none but itself." - Francis Quarles
"If I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own backyard....because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with." dorothy, wizard of oz
Only one quote??? :] It's hard to choose =} I think I'll go w/ this one.
"If He laid down His life for us, is it not the least we can do to lay down ours for Him? If He bore the cross and died on it for me, ought I not to be willing to take it up for Him?" ~ D.L. Moody
In Him, Devin
P.S. I haven't been on your blog recently so I just saw your blog banner and I LOVE it! It looks fantastic.
I have a number of quotes that mean a lot to me, but I'd have to say that this is one of my favorites...
"Just so surely as we ask to have our Faith strengthened, we must feel a willingness to take from God's hand the means for strengthening it. We must allow Him to educate us through trials and bereavements and troubles. It is through trials that Faith is exercised more and more. God affectionately permits difficulties, that He may develop unceasingly that which He is willing to do for us, and to this end we should not shrink, but if He gives us sorrow and hindrances and losses and afflictions, we should take them out of His hands as evidences of His love and care for us in developing more and more of that Faith which He is seeking to strengthen in us." - George Muller
"Lord, I give up all my own plans and purposes All my own desires and hopes and accept Thy will for my life. I give myself, my life, my all Utterly to Thee to be Thine forever. Fill me and seal me with Thy Holy Spirit Use me as Thou wilt, send me where Thou wilt And work out Thy whole will in my life at any cost now and forever."
"You are made a man by what you do in your spare time; you are made a leader by what you encourage others to do in their spare time." - not sure. My question is this: "What kind of man, and what kind of leader?
"Where you live doesn't make you a missionary. The mission you are on makes you a missionary."

Hello Emily! It was lovely meeting you at the Bright Lights conferences in PA! The testimonies you shared were touching and inspiring. Thank you for your openness. I also really appreciated the few short conversations we had. Your desire for the things of God shines clearly!
I guess I should share a quote, too. :-)
Speaking of the necessity for people to know the seemingly impregnable darkness of India, and in defense of her blunt portrayal of fact, Amy Carmichael wrote, "We shall have all eternity to celebrate the victories, but we have only the few hours before sunset in which to win them."
"Virtue is the highest proof of understanding and the only solid basis of greatness;...vice is the natural consequence of narrow thoughts...it begins in mistake and ends in ignominy." Samuel Johnson.
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Welcome!
Every Thought Captive is here to encourage and edify you in your walk with the Lord and be an online testimony to the working of God in my life.

I am the fourth of six home-schooled children, blessed with parents who fear God and love each other.
I have had the opportunity to serve for some time in Chicago, IL, as a graphic artist with IBLP. Since then, I have hosted Scripture memory challenges for girls in my area, interned with Bright Lights (a discipleship ministry for young women), and am currently living at home, serving my family and local church, and funding many interests by working as a legal secretary for an attorney.
I love to travel, make music, witness, cook, put some energy into sports and outdoor activities, take pictures and study the Bible. I love hard work and will learn just about anything! I am humbled at the many ways I fall short of what I ought to be, but as John Newton said, "I am not what I ought to be, I am not what I want to be, I am not what I hope to be in another world; but still I am not what I once used to be, and by the grace of God I am what I am."
Soli Deo gloria!
Throughout these posts, you'll find I have linked or referenced to various ministries, blogs, or other websites. Although I have found helpful resources from each, I do not mean to imply full endorsement of them, their teaching, or their material.

Part of my life purpose is to emulate Jesus Christ as much as I can in all that I do, and photography is just one facet I strive to honor Him with quality, perspective, and creativity. I want the work of my hands and the meditations of my heart to be captive to the will of my Lord and Savior that I might live in the freedom and power that obeying provides!

Love this blog!
Though God's Word provides the BEST quotes, one of my favorite quotes is not from the Bible:
" I AM AWARE THAT I AM LESS THAN SOME PEOPLE PREFER ME TO BE, BUT MOST PEOPLE ARE UNAWARE THAT I AM SO MUCH MORE THAN WHAT THEY SEE"
I came across the above quote on a day that I really needed it. Ever had one of those days? :)
"If you ever dream of beating me, you'd better wake up and apologize."
"You can only be as full as you are empty"
Miss you Emily!!!
